Amazing quality!! The characters on these diaries are so adorable, and they are very well constructed! The name of each of the characters is embroidered on the cover as well. Nice thick quality fabric used, and no loose threads or shortcuts in the construction. Faux fur is really fluffy and thick.Upon opening it there’s a lovely picture on the inner cover, and each page has the Nebulous stars pictures as well. The pages are nice and thick, and ink doesn’t bleed through when my daughter uses her pens and highlighters.The lock is decent quality. Better than most diary sets, and shaped like a heart too. Has 2 keys so I keep one safe somewhere out of reach in case my daughter loses her key. Note that the keys on all the Nebulous Stars diaries are all keyed alike, which means that one set of keys will open the other diaries. Quite honestly, with these kids diaries the keys are more for show anyways. Someone deteremined could get into them regardless of the keys. Kids won't mind. They just like the feeling of it being 'super secret'.Overall fabulous little diary and quality is unmatched with any we’ve gotten before.

My 10-year-old daughter and I have been enjoying our foray into the Nebulous Stars world as we check out and review several of their items. Mostly, we've been impressed with the products we've reviewed from them, so when I saw the Stella Playwell Secret Diary, I just had to order it to see how it stacks up against other products in the line. The diary doesn't come packaged in anything, though it does have an information tag hanging from it, along with two keys for the diary's lock. I didn't notice any smells emanating from it.Like all of the other Nebulous Stars products we've tried, this diary is so incredibly visually appealing. We're not sure what sort of creature Stella is, but we are guessing she is part cat and part unicorn, so a caticorn? The diary measures approximately 9.5” x 8.5” x 2”. It is wrapped in a plush, pink fleece and all of the different elements are sewn on or embroidered rather than glued on. So, right off the bat, this diary is a step up from most other plush diaries my daughter has used, because the quality of this one is so clearly apparent. Many of the elements sewn onto the diary are glittery and most are done in soft colours that are highly pigmented. The diary locks using a heart-shaped lock that is made from a combination of plastic and metal. It is super-cute, though might not be as durable as one would hope, since it rattles and opening it using the provided keys is a bit of a fiddly process. But then, none of the locks on play diaries like these are great, really; they are all easy to pick if the keys get lost. Right as you open up the diary, you are greeted with a beautiful illustration of one of the characters from the Nebulous Stars universe on the inside cover of the diary. The diary is filled with 200 lined pages, each featuring a small Nebulous Stars-related illustration. The stock used is of good quality and thick enough to prevent ink and marker from bleeding-through. I looked this diary over thoroughly and could not find a bad stitch or any glue on it, so quality assurance on this product is great.My daughter loves her Stella diary! She is the type of girl who enjoys quieter, more artistic-driven activities like writing and drawing, so this product is right down her alley. Since my daughter loves both unicorns and cats, Stella the caticorn really appeals to her. My daughter has also enjoyed getting to discover the Nebulous Stars universe and all of the characters in it. She loves their beautiful anime-like illustrations and has spent the past few weeks trying to emulate them. My daughter has used all kinds of different inks and markers in this diary and she says none of them have bled through to the other pages. I see her writing or doodling in the diary almost everyday, so she gets a lot of use out of it. Diaries like these make such great gifts for kids 5+ since they really like the secretive aspect of getting to write down their innermost thoughts and lock them away. This diary is meant for kids 7+, but I don't see why kids a few years younger couldn't use it, so long as they treat it well. You wouldn't want this diary in the hands of children 3 and under since the small parts present a potential choking hazard.As wonderfully designed and manufactured as the Stella diary is, I still think the $25.99 asking price is much too high. Sure, this diary is made mostly with good quality materials and I can't fault the way all of those materials have been put together, but even so, this is a children's diary and the current asking price is completely unreasonable, to my mind. Ideally, I'd like to see this priced at about $15. So, I suggest that, if you are considering purchasing this diary, you wait for a significant price-drop or coupon to be offered. Beautifully constructed and the quality of it really shows immediately. The furry bits are plush and soft and the glitter and jeweled areas seem solid and like nothing will detach easily. The lock and key are your standard basic set, although the lock is jazzed up to be a blue heart, but the mechanics are basic and flimsy. Lined pages on the inside with a repeating pre-printed image of the character. This is a great gift for any young girl as it's almost guaranteed to be a hit.
