I needed some flat screws for a few projects in my home where I couldn't use the countersunk ones I already had. I then found these 4,0 x 16 mm screws (400 screws + a screw bit). My 3,5 mm countersunk screws have a tendency to be just a little too thin, so these 4,0 mm screws not only look right but are also better. I have used about 90 already and they work like a charm.The screws are strong, but you CAN break them. The three screws in my photo have all been screwed in really tight, and I couldn't break off their heads although I tried my best - BUT if pressure is applied from one side of the head, it may actually snap. This can happen if the screw is stressed somehow. I broke one screw (one!) this way - and I believe it was my own fault.Here is what you should do. Take into account that these flat head screws are not as strong as countersunk screws or much thicker screws. Pre-drill a hole for the screw. Then make sure you go in straight. Don't be afraid to apply sufficient pressure - but also know when to stop. Use your hands and not your power tool. If you do this you'll be fine. If you need screws that can take more punishment, you should buy some with bigger and chunkier heads. Other than that these screws are fine, but they do have this little weak spot due to their appearance.
