First off, awesome customer service!! Love this company.Story: I was in a predicament recently where I was using my new (old) boat and using the live-well for the first time. Flipped up aerator, filled tank with water, added bait, left running. Stand pipe with overflow installed. I went to the front of the boat to fish and looked back to see half my boat was filled with water. I cut the aerator off and evacuated the water with the bilge. I realized after looking around, the overflow in the livewell is plumbed to a drain plug at the bottom of the transom, so water couldn’t exit the tank when it filled up. I needed to engineer a new solution. I need bubbles and I need an alarm. For bubbles, I bought a 12v bubbler. For alarm/sensor, I decided to get this Seaflo High Water Bilge Alarm and sensor and attached the sensor to the upper inside of the live-well, ran a through-hull elbow through the tank, attached a 3/4” hose that leads to the bilge in case of water intrusion. I ran the air lines through there, then ran the sensor wires down through the 3/4” tubing into the bilge. then filled the fitting with silicone. As for wiring this to the aerator/switch: I then attached the brown wire of the sensor to the brown wire on the aerator pump (or bilge in other people’s case). Black wire from the sensor to the red wire on the alarm, and black wire from alarm to ground. I turned the 12v power on, then activated the aerator. I then put two wet fingers over the 2 sensors (per instructions) and within a couple seconds, the alarm sounded. So, in operation, when I flip my aerator switch on, water begins filling the live-well. When it gets as high as I want it, the alarm will sound (it’s loud) and I flip the switch off. All set for the day.Now I won’t flood my boat or have to drill a hole in the transom for overflow. The only power I’ll need when fishing while using the live-well is the aerator pump when filling and the bubbler when bubbling.I’m sure there are other ways, but since I don’t have the means to drain my live-well when it reaches the max level and don’t want to overwork my bilge/battery, I just turn in off. Eventually I’ll just instinctively know to cut it off.
