It is very important that you use original Rotring leads with this pencil. I've used other manufacturers' leads and they tend to break inside the mechanism. I can only assume that Rotring's idea of 0,7 mm is very slightly different from that of other manufacturers, which make them a little bit smaller so that they bend and snap inside the feed tube. Stick to Rotring leads and you've got a fine pencil for life. Only one gripe: I've modified mine with some heat shrink tubing on the knurled section because I don't like the feel of the knurling. And tbh, I wouldn't get the 800+ model today, it's an antiquated concept. The straight 800 would be my choice now. But for the rest, I use it a couple of hours every day (mathematics) and it's a great pencil.

This pencil is of superior quality. The tip retracts so you can safely put it into your pocket or bag without risk of stabbing yourself the next time you reach for t. It’s weighted perfectly and it’s cool to the touch so is a pleasure to write with every time.

It's quite heavy and small to use for long writing. Overall build quality is quite nice but I do not like how they put an eraser in the body. This is not a pencil I would recommend to everyone but I do understand that some people might find it appealing.

This is a fantastic mechanical pencil. Expensive but worth it! I am using for artistic drawing for very fine lines. This mechanical pencils work with Rotring and Faber Castel leads.I started to buy one mechanical pencil with o.5mm HB leads. I ended buying two others for 2B and 2H Faber Castel leads. Just love drawing with them!Rotring should offer more options with the leads. Additionally, it will be nice if there was an area to indicate the reference of the lead i.e., HB, 2B and 2H. To get around this issue, I taped a little paper with the reference of the lead in an area where I do not place my fingers. It doesn't look very nice but It is a quick fix to quickly identify each of my mechanical pencils.

Per i miei gusti: giusto peso (non è leggera peraltro) ed equilibrio, finiture curate, piacevolezza del contatto sulle dita quando si scrive. Meccanismi precisi. Ottima (per i taschini delle giacche e delle camice) la retraibilità della punta. Questa però rappresenta anche il punto meno buono. Perché implica un “gioco” dimensionale tra il meccanismo ed il corpo per cui quando si scrive la punta ha un (modesto ma avvertibile) movimento e non è rigidissimamente solidale al portamine. Basta ruotarlo però e si trova un punto in cui il gioco non c’è. Piccola cosa ma uno noioso come me la nota.

Questo portamine, come tutti gli altri della serie Rotring, è sul mercato tra i migliori e di alta qualità. Ha un design davvero spettacolare e un peso ben bilanciato. Sono soddisfatto anche perché il prodotto è arrivato nella sua confezione originale e in ottime condizioni.
