"Spin with the Survivors"
Virtual Spin Tour and Fundraiser

“Spin with the Survivors” is a 200 mile virtual spin tour to promote physical activity as a complement to cancer recovery and to raise money to support our wellness programs.

Anybody who enjoys spin classes at their local gym can join the “Spin with the Survivors” tour by signing up for a FREE personal wellness account to a keep a journal of your spin minutes. For each spin minute recorded in your wellness journal a personalized marker will be moved ¼ of a mile along the virtual ride course to mark your progress. There is no time limit on completing the tour but you’ll be surprised how quickly the miles add up.

All registered spinners will have the opportunity to earn great prizes by raising donations to support the physical activity programs offered by Western New York Wellness.

How to Register (sign up here)
To get started just visit the sign up page and fill out the registration form. Once you submit the form you will be able to login and start recording your spin minutes.

Prizes for Pledges (download a pledge form)
By having your friends, relatives and co-workers visit the “Spin with the Survivors” website they can donate directly to your wellness ride. Just have them select your name from the "Select a Spinner" list and enter a pledge amount. To help you keep track of your donations feel free to download one of our sponsor pledge forms.

All riders raising $100 or more will be eligible to receive thank you gift certificates for pledges raised! Raise more than $1,000 in pledges and, in addition to your gift certificates, you'll be entered in a special drawing to win bonus gifts.

Raise Pledges and Receive Thank You Gift Certificates:

$100 - $10 Gift Certificate
$250 - $25 Gift Certificate
$500 - $50 Gift Certificate
$750 - $75 Gift Certificate

$1,000 & Above Automatically Entered In The Bonus Gift Drawing:

$1,000 - $100 Gift Certificate
$1,500 - $150 Gift Certificate
$2,500 - $250 Gift Certificate
$5,000 - $500 Gift Certificate

Gift certificates are refundable at RV&E Bike in Fairport or Canandaigua. You can always donate back your gift certificate to the Western New York Wellness Program. Gift certificates will be awarded based on pledges raised on or before January 30, 2010.

How to Accept Pledges

Pledges can be made in two ways:

On-Line - Have your friends, relatives and co-workers visit the Western New York Wellness website and they can donate directly to your spin tour by credit card or PayPal.
Cash and Check - Cash & check pledges can be added to your fundraising total too. Just use the pledge form to keep track of them. Please have your contributors make their pledge checks out to Western New York Wellness.

To be eligible for your thank you gifts any check or cash contributions must be received by Feburary 13, 2010. You may send your contributions, along with a filled out pledge form (download a pledge form), to:

LAF Affiliate
Western New York Wellness is a local affiliate of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and has created the first program to offer physical exercise opportunities for cancer survivors and their families.

The goals of the Western New York Wellness physical activity programs are to engage and motivate people who have survived a diagnosis of cancer to reach their physical and social potential through participation in a program of regular physical activity. This is facilitated by providing opportunities in the form of camaraderie, regularly scheduled chaperoned outdoor bike rides in the spring and summer months, regularly scheduled indoor spin classes in the fall and winter months and access to participating local health clubs.
